FAQS
Common Questions
and Expert Answers
Not sure where to start? Our FAQs cover everything from booking your first consultation to receiving your treatment.
How do I get in touch?
How do I request a prescription refill?
Through the MiCann app you will be able to book your appointments, view current appointments. View your current prescriptions and order your medicinal cannabis products.
MiCann via the web: https://www.micann.com.au/
The MiCann app is available for Apple and Android.
What are the Consultation fees?
Consultations are free of charge. Some consultations may be eligible for Bulk Billing through Medicare.
How do I get my prescribed products?
Any pharmacy within Australia is able to dispense medicinal cannabis products. However, not all pharmacies are familiar with the processes of ordering and dispensing these medications, and hence the ordering times and the price of products can vary significantly between pharmacies.
At Cann I Help we work with many different pharmacies across Australia. We work closely with the Cann I Help Dispensary, where you can collect directly from them in Brisbane or they can organise express delivery anywhere in Australia for a fixed fee ($16.50 at the time of writing this). You can opt to choose your own local pharmacy, or select one of our partner pharmacies – many of whom are able to send out medications through express post. Your options will depend on whether you are accessing the
Compassionate Access Program and which State/Territory you live in. Certain states and territories require additional permits which can only be accessed by doctors based in that jurisdiction. Following your GP consultation, we will let you know your options and help you to choose. There will be a $19 administrative fee pre consultation for using an external pharmacy.
How Much Does It Cost Per Month?
Details of our medical fees are provided in the section above. Costs of medicinal cannabis products vary depending on the type of product and the dose. Typical costs are around $150-300 a month. Rebates may be available for some DVA clients and with certain private health funds, and subsidies may be available through our Compassionate Access Program.
What Products Can Our Doctors Prescribe?
Our doctors can prescribe a large selection of medical cannabis products that are available within Australia including flowers, oils, tinctures and capsules. Cann I Help clinicians have access to a wide formulary of medicinal cannabis products, and do not receive commission or payments for any of their prescriptions.
How Often Will I Need Follow Up Appointments?
Our standard follow ups are:
2 week nurse appointment following your initial prescribers appointment
1 month follow up with your prescriber after you have started your medication
3 monthly follow ups with your prescriber
We understand that some patients may require appointments outside the standard booking process. If this applies to you, please contact our admin team on 1800 044 357 or email info@cannihelp.com.au and we will assist in arranging your appointment.
Which Patients Are Suitable?
You will need to have an appropriate medical condition to obtain a prescription. We will discuss and review your suitability during your initial nurse consultation. For safety reasons we cannot prescribe medicinal cannabis to women who are pregnant (or planning a pregnancy) or breastfeeding, for patients with unstable heart disease (such as a recent heart attack) or patients with a history of a psychotic mental health disorder.
